The Abbeyfield Society is a national charity dedicated to alleviating loneliness and isolation among older people by providing companionship in our supported housing accommodations, retirement apartments, and care homes.

Our restaurant, located within our Independent Living service, offers delicious breakfast options, light lunches, and snacks to our residents, visitors, and the wider local community.
The Role of a Chef:As the Chef you will be responsible for:
Meal Creation: Designing healthy, balanced meals that cater to the dietary preferences of residents and external customers.Community Engagement: Promoting the restaurant within the community by offering meals at low cost and fostering social benefits.Supply Management: Ensuring a safe and sufficient supply of catering products by establishing a timely ordering system and maintaining accurate records for audits.Stock Control: Implementing effective stock rotation and management to stay within the agreed catering budget.Equipment Safety: Ensuring safe and proper use of catering equipment, promptly reporting any defects to management.Hygiene Compliance: Adhering to kitchen cleaning procedures and Environmental Health standards, maintaining clean and hygienic kitchen and storage areas.COSHH Compliance: Using equipment and products in accordance with COSHH requirements and reviewing assessments regularly.Food Safety Records: Participating in and supervising the completion of all relevant food safety records.About You:We are looking for a Chef who possesses:
A relevant Certificate in Food Hygiene and a proven track record of cooking varied, healthy meals for large groups regularly.
