Minimum requirements for the role:Minimum 5 years experience in hatchery management or a related fieldHands-on experience with single and multi-stage incubation systems, particularly EMtech machines is essentialFamiliarity with biosecurity and health protocols in a hatchery setting is advantageousMust have strong knowledge of egg handling, incubation processes, and hatchery management best practicesExperience working in an emerging market or rural setting is essentialProven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a teamMust have strong organizational and communication skillsThe successful candidate will be responsible for:Managing day-to-day operations of the hatchery, ensuring optimal egg handling and hatching.Operating and maintaining EMtech machines, including both single and multi-stage systems.Monitoring incubation conditions (temperature, humidity, ventilation) and ensuring proper egg turning and machine settings.Planning and implementing hatch schedules to optimize hatchability and chick quality.Training, supervising, and managing a team of six staff members, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to protocols.Ensuring all biosecurity measures are implemented and followed strictly to prevent contamination.Tracking and reporting on hatchery performance, including hatch rates, fertility, and any operational issues.Performing troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime.Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.Collaborating with other departments, including breeding and distribution teams, to ensure smooth operations.Please note that subsequent to the screening and shortlisting process, all further communication will be entered into, only with the shortlisted candidate
