Job description Group Financial analyst / Strategic Finance Analyst Purpose of the role: The financial analyst is a strategic partner to the Group team, translating data into actionable insights. The financial analyst will research, prepare reports, assess forecasts and build models to fuel business decisions. Thriving on agility and clear communication, the individual must also possess the commercial nous to understand new commercial opportunities in an entrepreneurial environment. The role will join a small, focussed team at The Group level supporting a wider team of senior executives. The role will have exposure to operational and strategic decisions in multiple businesses, special projects and corporate development. Desired Experience & Qualification Degree/Honours degree in Finance/Economics/Investment Management/Econometrics or similar discipline. Relevant post-graduate qualification (e.g. CA / CIMA / CFA) will be beneficial, or relevant work experience. 2 - 5 years experience in a similar role in an analytical and strategic environment Beneficial experience - corporate finance, management consulting experience, or coming from a Graduate Programme or Internship, either with a Corporate Advisory or Private Equity Firm, Investment/Banking Institution, Credit Risk department or an Audit Firms corporate finance or transaction services division. The preferred candidate will have knowledge of business growth strategies, understand how value is created, the commercial drivers and risks that impact business profitability and return on investment. The role will suit an intellectually curious, performance-driven, team player with an energetic approach to problem solving and a positive outlook. The following skills are required: Strong financial analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills with a sharp eye for detail. A solid grasp of financial and corporate finance principles and the capability to interpret intricate data Good commercial acumen, detail oriented with the ability to focus on that which has strategic importance. Proficiency in financial modelling to support decision-making and skilled in Excel. Data analytics skills are beneficial. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner. Skilled in MS Powerpoint and MS Word. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team. A resilient self-starter that takes pride in their work with the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects. Responsibilities: Conduct in-depth analysis of portfolio company financial statements, including P&Ls, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Improve and execute analyses and identify meaningful trends, opportunities, and communicate the results to senior management. Develop and maintain detailed financial models to review opportunities and to track portfolio company performance against key metrics and investment thesis. Monitor industry trends and competitive landscape for relevant portfolio companies. Identify and analyse potential risks and opportunities facing portfolio companies. Assist in providing timely and accurate financial and business analytics to executives, board members and other senior managers. Perform market and investment theme research to support the commercial evaluation of new opportunities. Partner with stakeholders across business units to develop analyses and reports in a collaborative way. Prepare high-quality reports for internal stakeholders, including performance reviews, portfolio updates, business case development and investment recommendations. Support senior team members with ad-hoc analysis, research and implementation of special projects which may include corporate transactions and internal strategic projects. Participate in business meetings with business leaders and managers to assess, and identify issues with current business operations and implement improvements to streamline business processes.
