Chain of Hardware Stores in the Durban area is looking for a Group Buyer to join their Executive Team.The candidate will be responsible for buying and negotiating the best deals for the company. We need someone smart, strong negotiating skills, analytical, and self-motivated. This role will be focused on negotiating with current suppliers rather than sourcing new ones.The position will be based at Head Office with some travel to Zululand and will likely involve a dotted line report to the replenishment clerk in stores. The candidate will report directly to the CEO and will be responsible for overseeing five stores located in Ulundi, Pongola, Manguzi, Mbazwana, and Mkuze.Responsibilities:Overall responsibility for the strategic development, performance, and maintenance of the buying process activities to obtain the best possible combination of price, quality, and service.Meet your targets and those of the team as a whole.Achieving maximum customer satisfaction in accordance with organisation plans – manage, direct, and monitor the overall performance of the buying team.Effective liaison, support, and assistance between the buying department and the rest of the organisation.Maintain and improve mechanisms for buying, including measuring the buying process and disseminating feedback for improvements to the appropriate internal entities.Support to all other departments with buying process and related issues.Reporting on a monthly basis as agreed.Maintain accurate records.Responsibly use resources and control expenses to meet agreed budgetary controls.Requirements:Qualifications sufficient to perform the job role.Experience in purchasing in an FMCG / Hardware or Building industry.Thorough understanding of buying process management, requirements, and dynamics.Able to use relevant software.Ability in buying process management and supplier relationship management.Leadership ability.Integrity and honesty in all dealings.Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
