About us:
The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering is home to about 60 professors leading research on a very broad range of topics. On the Industrial Engineering side, research areas include Operations Research, Information Engineering, Human Factors, and Applied Machine Learning, all of which seek to improve the systems we as humans rely on to navigate our world. On the Mechanical Engineering side, research areas include Robotics, Mechanics & Design, Materials, and Thermofluids, topics that are applied to applications including manufacturing, energy production, and bioengineering.
We are also home to about 2,000 very talented students: about 1,300 undergraduates are enrolled in the Industrial Engineering and in the Mechanical Engineering BASc programs. We have about 350 Master of Engineering (MEng) students, a professional program for students taking courses with us for a year or two. And we have about 350 MASc and PhD students, who work individually on research projects with a particular professor.

Your opportunity:
The incumbent will assist and support the functioning of the Graduate Program office, with particular attention to the needs of students enrolled in the professional MEng Program from recruitment to convocation. The incumbent will be well versed in the admission policies of the University of Toronto and the School of Graduate Studies. The incumbent will also provide program support to all MEng students who contact the graduate program office.
Your responsibilities will include: Providing detailed information to students on program and/or course requirements.Scheduling appointments for prospective students, applicants, and current students to address individual needs.Acting as the first point of contact for general enquiries.Tracking the status of applications; Checking completeness of applications.Updating and maintaining records.Providing detailed information on eligibility requirements, procedures and deadlines.Providing detailed information regarding admission requirements to prospective students and applicants.Coordinating the preparation of registration materials.Essential Qualifications: Advanced College Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum two years of relevant experience providing front-line customer service to post-secondary students and appropriately addressing and referring inquiries in a timely manner.Experience providing detailed information to students on program and/or course requirements.Demonstrated experience with ROSI/Acorn and SLATE.Experience navigating websites to identify resources to support students.Demonstrated experience providing support for career fairs and events.Demonstrated experience providing basic support for general referrals to individuals in distress.Experience assessing a variety of transcripts (including international and domestic), determining technical pre-requisites in science, and processing GPA calculations.Ability to control a large volume of data.Superior customer service, interpersonal skills with a demonstrated positive attitude and service orientation towards students, staff and the public.Excellent problem solving, judgment, and analytical skills, with the demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.Excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to understand complex information and policies and successfully translate them to students.Proven collaborative and teamwork skills while having the ability to work effectively independently and under direction.Proven ability to deal with matters of extreme sensitivity and confidentiality with tact and discretion.Ability to work well under pressure, organize work, establish priorities, meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to prioritize competing demands and exercise a high degree of initiative.Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and the promotions of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.Assets (Nonessential): Familiarity with students accounts.MS forms creation/updates.To be successful in this role you will be: AccountableApproachablePossess a positive attitudePunctualTeam playerClosing Date: 11/07/2024, 11:59PM ET

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 08 -- $62,832. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $80,351. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
