Our client, a global leader in manufacturing of high-quality, innovative products for a variety of markets around the world, is looking for a GMR 2.1 Engineering Manager to join their team in Hillcrest area, KZN. The Engineering Manager will be leading the mechanical, electrical, C&I & project engineering resources on site, by providing technical & management leadership to the engineering group, including Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Automation/Instrumentation teams.
Key Experience & Qualifications Required Degree in Engineering: BEng/BSc Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering – 6 Years+ Experience OR BTech Degree Mechanical Engineering/Chemical Engineering with 12 Years+ experience. Extensive managerial experience in engineering, maintenance, and project management with a good understanding of the manufacturing process in a hazardous and flammable chemical processing environment (MHI). GMR2.1 certification & GCC Factories. Six Sigma Black Belt would be advantageous. Exposure to working with automated process control systems. Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of managing department budgets. Experience in the management of major capital projects. Responsibilities: Develop and implement programmes to ensure compliance with group and country regulatory requirements - OHS Act, MHI, DMR etc. and to improve site HSE performance. Network and develop external links to keep the business informed on the development of new technologies. Develop a capital programme that balances high return projects with essential H&S, Quality and infrastructure requirements. Key member of SLT (site leadership team) developing site goals in support of company vision and the local strategy. Introduce and develop new techniques for manufacturing improvement - lean manufacturing, statistical methods. Responsible for setting the site's 5-year strategic capital plan with spend forecasting. Providing the site director with up-to-date spend vs budget reports monthly with full ownership of the CAPEX & OPEX budget. Developing the site maintenance strategy, balancing predictive/preventative and reactive maintenance tasks, whilst introducing maintenance KPIs to improve overall performance. A robust site critical spares list and spares strategy will support this.
