Job title: Mechanical Technician
Location: Oudtshoorn – Western Cape
Duration: 3 Years Contract
Purpose of the PositionThe technician must possess expertise in mechanical systems, electrical components, and other relevant technologies. The role involves diagnosis of vehicle problems, repairing diagnosed problems, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring the proper functioning of equipment and vehicles.
Minimum RequirementsGrade 12 (Matric)National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (petrol optional N4)Driver's licence code (EB)Fluent in EnglishProficient in relevant computer applicationsSuperior listening, verbal, and written communication skillsAbility to handle stressful situations appropriatelyAbility to accept additional tasksCore ResponsibilitiesRun diagnostic tests on vehiclesAnalyse diagnostic test resultsReplace vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmission, and braking systemsCheck vehicle lighting systemsDrive vehicles to gauge performancePerform preventative maintenance on the service trucksMaintain detailed records of serviced vehiclesAdhere to an inspection procedure checklistMaintain the cleanliness of the vehiclesFamiliarity with procedures and policies of the serviceSound knowledge of warranty administration procedures and policiesExtensive experience working with the auto industryAssist with duties and/or direction from management and be willing to travelCollect information and prepare reports of our fleetAssist with filling and getting quotations for car partsKnowledge on Yellow Plant greasingPersonal Attributes & Skills RequirementsKnowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and other mechanical engineering conceptsExcellent math skills, including advanced geometry, calculus, and physicsCreative thinking and innovationAdvanced problem-solving and critical thinking skillsGreat interpersonal skills and teamwork abilitiesEffective verbal and written communicationCommercial awareness, including an understanding of target user and marketAbility to work under pressureSolid knowledge of vehicle functions and partsAt Njilo Consulting and Logistics we are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace.
