Purpose of Position:
A General Manager focuses heavily on revenue growth and is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of business operations with the primary goal of increasing revenue. You will manage all aspects of the Woodmead Johannesburg office, including strategic planning, operational execution, and financial performance. Additionally, you will provide leadership and guidance to the mining team, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, industry regulations, and company standards.
Major Areas of Responsibility:

Revenue Growth Strategy: Developing and implementing strategic plans to drive revenue growth across all business units and product lines.
Sales and Marketing Leadership: Leading the sales and marketing teams to identify new opportunities, develop innovative strategies, and execute effective campaigns to increase sales and market share.
Financial Management: Managing the financial performance of the business, including budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring profitability targets are met or exceeded.
Customer Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers, understanding their needs, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction to drive repeat business and referrals.
Operational Excellence: Ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness across all departments to maximize revenue generation and minimize costs.
Market Analysis and Competitive Intelligence: Conducting market research and analysis to identify new market opportunities, trends, and competitive threats to inform strategic decision-making.
Product Development and Innovation: Working closely with the product development team to identify and develop new products or services that meet customer needs and drive revenue growth.
Team Development: Developing and mentoring a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks that may impact revenue growth, including market risks, regulatory risks, and operational risks.
Reporting and Analysis: Providing regular reports and analysis to senior management on revenue performance, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
People Management: Manage and provide guidance and mentorship to your new or growing team.
Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental policies for the Leica entity.

Decisions Expected:

Own authority management of an agreed regional budget.
Approval of expenditure within the approved budget, mindful of the overall performance of the company – revenue and EBIT.
Setting priorities within the overall priority listing.

Knowledge and Experience - Required:

Experience in mining or related industry advantageous.
Successful track record in a similar project or product management role.
Demonstrated experience working as part of a product development process.
Proven leadership capabilities.
Commitment and results-driven with a commercial focus, acting as a role model.
Management of both technical and non-technical resources.
Ability to commercially assess the viability of products.
Ability to work within a senior management team environment.
Understanding of product and product development lifecycle.
Understanding of the operation of a mine site and the business drivers of our customers.
Experience with fleet management, GPS, and machine automation technologies is a major advantage.
Strong documentation and communication skills (both written and verbal), including the ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to analyze and communicate risks and apply strategies to minimize them.
Demonstrated ability to proactively improve processes whilst achieving outcomes with a commercial focus and in line with the business' strategic direction.
Ability to form strong relationships with peers and customers representing the company professionally.
Strong time management and prioritization skills.
Ability to set and meet team and individual goals and deadlines.
Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment.
Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team environment.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and tasks.

Education:

BTECH / Degree (NQF Level 7) Mining Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Geology/Metallurgy.
Postgraduate MBA/MBL/Leadership Program.
5 years of Senior Management experience.
5 years work experience in an Operational Mining environment or related.

Travel:
Domestic and international travel will be a requirement of this role.
