Our client is seeking an empathetic and patient General Manager to lead their food service operations, ensuring that every dining experience is a celebration of life and community.
Location: Waterkloof, Pretoria Salary: R16,000 - R25,000 (Depending on experience) General Information: Shifts As the General Manager (Food Industry), you will be at the heart of our client's mission to create a delightful dining experience for their residents.
Your role will involve managing all aspects of our food service operations with a special focus on patience, empathy, and understanding the unique needs of the elderly.
You will lead a team of passionate professionals committed to delivering high-quality, nutritious, and appetizing meals.
Key Responsibilities Supervise daily operations of the food service department, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
Manage all aspects of food service operations, including menu planning, meal preparation, and service.
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure high-quality ingredients are delivered on time.
Monitor and optimize inventory levels to ensure cost-efficiency and minimize waste.
Lead, mentor, and motivate kitchen and dining staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Provide clear guidance and support to staff, helping them achieve their full potential.
Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-one sessions to discuss goals and expectations.
Promote a culture of cooperation and teamwork, where every member's contribution is valued and recognized.
Develop and implement training materials and programs focused on food safety, hygiene, and culinary skills.
Monitor staff performance and provide constructive feedback to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.
Collaborate with the culinary team to design diverse, nutritious, and appealing menus tailored to the dietary needs and preferences of our elderly residents.
Ensure all meals are prepared with high-quality ingredients, maintaining exceptional taste and presentation.
Engage with residents to gather feedback and understand their culinary preferences and dietary restrictions.
Create a warm and welcoming dining atmosphere, fostering a sense of community and comfort.
Manage budget and financial performance, optimizing costs without compromising quality.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor inventory levels, oversee procurement processes, and maintain strong vendor relationships.
Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the dining experience through innovative culinary techniques and service improvements.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to introduce new ideas and maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications/Requirements Proven experience as a General Manager or similar role in the food industry, preferably within a retirement or healthcare setting.
Strong leadership and team management skills with a patient and compassionate approach.
Excellent culinary knowledge and a passion for creating nutritious and delicious meals.
Understanding of dietary requirements and restrictions, particularly for the elderly.
Be able to patiently and empathetically work with the elderly.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage budgets, control costs, and optimize resources efficiently.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations in the food industry.
Must be trustworthy and reliable.
