Role Summary: The General Manager, Cargo Verification Operations, is responsible for overseeing all cargo verification activities across a larger geographic area or potentially global operations. This role involves strategic oversight, policy development, and leadership of multiple regional teams, ensuring that all operations align with client specifications and maintain the highest standards of accuracy and integrity. The General Manager will drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimise operational efficiency, and foster a culture of safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities and related tasks: Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute strategic plans for cargo verification operations, aligning with company goals and client requirements.Oversee and support Regional Managers and their teams to ensure operational consistency and excellence.Identify and implement industry best practices across all locations.Operational Management: Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are consistently followed and updated as necessary.Oversee the development and implementation of strategies to enhance inspection efficiency and accuracy.Monitor and manage key performance metrics across all regions.Team Development: Foster leadership and professional development within regional teams.Implement training programs to enhance skills and knowledge across all levels.Quality Control and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards across operations.Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain high standards of quality control.Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.Ensure timely and effective communication with all relevant parties.Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to continuously improve operational processes and systems.Implement technology and innovations to enhance verification accuracy and efficiency.Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets for cargo verification operations.Monitor financial performance and implement cost-control measures.Strategic objectives / Key Performance Areas and Key Performance Indicators: Strategic objectives / Key Performance Areas (KPAs)Objective, measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within the control of the employee Operational Efficiency
