Our Group Supply Division is looking for a GDS Specialist as a member of the Technical Supply Team based in Cape Town.
About the Role The GDS (Global Distribution System) Specialist ensures effective access to the integrated airline content on the direct GDS systems portals.
This role will play a pivotal part in accessing the airlines' distributed content on GDSs, optimising revenue generation in alignment with the group's strategy and the B2B customer experience.
The GDS specialist will also be pivotal in understanding the transition from what can be done manually in/on the GDS to how the same can be achieved using automation.
Key Responsibilities
GDS Monitoring:Validate that the airline's content is accurately and timely represented in GDS platforms.Monitor GDS performance and identify areas for improvement.Content Monitoring:Monitor the airline's content on GDSs, including fares, rules, schedules, and inventory.Ensure data accuracy and integrity to prevent errors and disruptions in the booking process.Stay up to date with GDS-specific formatting and standards to optimise content visibility and usabilityStay current with GDS-specific tools that may facilitate further automation utilising new solutions published by the GDS'.Technical Integration:Collaborate with IT teams as necessary to ensure access to the airline's content on the applicable GDS platforms is available to the front-end interfaces (TS, ClubHub, FSA, etc.
)Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to GDS connectivity and data transmission.Stay updated on GDS technology advancements.Revenue Monitoring:Compare displayed (offered) pricing on the various front-end interfaces to ensure the best offers are being presented to the client and if not to liaise with the required internal departments to correct the issue.Customer Experience:Be advised of B2B customer feedback relating to GDS' and address any issues related to GDS-related booking experiences. Skills and Qualifications Strong understanding of the airline industry, including distribution channels and revenue management principles.Proficiency in using GDS platforms (e.g., Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo).Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders.Technical aptitude and ability to learn new systems and technologies.Attention to detail and accuracy.Flexibility and adaptive to changeDiscretion and awareness of confidentialityProficiency in EnglishPossess competent written and verbal communication skills.Possess effective organisational skills and the ability to complete multiple tasks and a high volume of work on deadline. About the Team The Group Technical Supply team is responsible for optimising air content distribution across the Group's unified platform, serving both B2B and B2C clients.
By managing and enhancing air content distribution channels, the team ensures the availability, accuracy, and competitiveness of air travel information.
Through collaboration with airline partners and leveraging technology, the team drives improvements in the customer experience and booking processes.
