Role description (overview)As a Food Safety Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and upholding food safety and quality in accordance with our FSSC certification and food safety management system. You will take full responsibility for all aspects relating to quality assurance, food safety management, Hygiene Management and Occupational Health and Safety. You will ensure the implementation and enforcement of Food Safety Standards, Good Manufacturing Practices, and personnel hygiene management.Report StructureReports to Senior Managers and Plant Manager.Educational requirementsA Bachelors' degree in Food Science/Food Technology/Animal Science/Meat Science or equivalent (essential as nature of job requires)National Senior Certificate - Grade 12Experience requirements5 years working experience in the meat or food industryAt least 2 years supervisor experience in an abattoirProven knowledge on relevant Food Safety Management Systems and OHS (Occupational Health & Safety) knowledge and experienceProficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and AbaserveGeneral competence requiredExcellent communication (written, verbal)Fluent in English (essential) and Xhosa (preferable)Strong interpersonal and leadership skillsVery responsible, hardworking and dedicatedOrganised and able to work under pressure with excellent time management skillsDetail orientated with prolonged attention spanBusiness minded and able to make informed decisionsqExcellent managerial and administration skillsKey Responsibilities:Oversee and maintain food safety and quality management systems in accordance with FSSC 22000 standard.Oversee the Hygiene Management System in accordance with the Meat Safety Act 40 of 2000.Oversee the Occupational Health and Safety systems in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.Oversee Waste Management internally and at our Organic Waste Composting SiteDevelop, maintain, and update all procedures, policies, records, manuals, training procedures, and product specifications as defined in the Food Safety System.Oversee preparation for Food Safety audits, Veterinary Public Health HAS Audits, Department of Labour OHS Audits and Customer compliance visits.Ensure implementation and enforcement of Good Manufacturing Practices and personnel hygiene management.Work closely with the production team to identify and address any quality or food safety issues.Implement and coordinate Corrective Action Procedure by dealing with customer complaints and internal Non-Conformances.Oversee Environmental monitoring program to verify hygiene practices and safe handling of product.Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Temp to permApplication Deadline: 2024/06/17#J-18808-Ljbffr
