Our client is looking for a Food Packaging & Labelling Specialist to join their manufacturing plant in Cato Ridge.
Purpose of the job: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards for packaging materials, labelling, and packaging processes.
Verify accuracy and consistency of packaging components to prevent errors and ensure product safety.
Candidate will work: Office environment with occasional visits to production areas May require travel to attend conferences, training, or audits   Key Responsibilities: Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with regulatory requirements for packaging (R36Act) Interpret regulations and guidelines to ensure compliance Collaborate with regulatory affairs team to address packaging-related issues Packaging Material Approval : Review and approve packaging materials (labels, inserts, cartons, etc.)
Verify compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards Maintain records of approved packaging materials Labelling Compliance : Review and approve labelling content for accuracy and compliance Ensure labelling consistency across products and markets Collaborate with marketing and regulatory teams to resolve labelling issues Packaging Process Validation: Develop and implement packaging process validation protocols Conduct audits to ensure compliance with validated processes Identify and address deviations or non-conformities Artwork Management: Coordinate artwork creation and approval for packaging materials Ensure consistency in branding, design, and regulatory information Product Launch Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure labelling and packaging compliance for new product launches Provide expertise on labelling and packaging regulations Quality Control: Conduct inspections of packaging materials and finished products Identify and address quality issues related to packaging Collaborate with quality control team to implement corrective actions Training and Documentation: Develop and maintain SOPs for packaging operations Provide training to packaging staff on regulatory requirements and company policies Maintain accurate records of training and documentation Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes Monitor and measure effectiveness of changes Supply Chain aspects Researching and evaluating new packaging suppliers to identify cost saving and quality opportunities.
Negotiate pricing for new and existing suppliers Negotiate MOQ's for new and existing products Maintain product specification forms for new and existing products Maintain inventory levels in line with business requirements Ensure Syspro packaging master data is maintained accordingly
