Job SummaryManage all activities within the production & pre-production processes to ensure that production targets are met, to the highest standard, within the agreed delivery timelines.This includes the use of existing, as well as the implementation of new systems to facilitate accurate scheduling and delivery timelines.Manage production staff from task assignment to time allocation as well as staff attendance and performance.Duties/ Functions/ ResponsibilitiesManage and oversee all production related activities.Open & close the production facility on a daily basis.Manage production workforce including fitters, pre-production staff, component manufacture staff and appointed sub-contractors.Staff Training and Development.Introduce visual assisted management in the production workplace.Empower and motivate the production team to excellence.Assist HR in the management of production staff absenteeism, including the implementation of contingency measures to minimize the impact on production.Assist Paymaster with validation of staff attendance, including overtime, where required.Create and implement Production Schedules in accordance with sales commitments and production targets.Assist Compliance Officer with updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for existing and newly introduced production activities.Implement time & activity-based worksheets for regular occurring production activities. Analyze and measure staff performance against the same making adjustments as required.Manage the production process within a budget including the measurement of performance against budget parameters.Implementation of overtime where required and the monitoring of costs associated with the same.Create and implement KPI's for production divisions, teams and activities.Report deliverables on a weekly basis to management.Identify and implement sound manufacturing practices and cost saving initiatives.Become fully acquainted with the Statutory Regulations & Compulsory Standards relative to vehicle modifications & the impact of such on road safety as determined in the National Road Traffic Act & supporting documents.Become fully acquainted with the OEM Body-Builders Guidelines and requirements.Comply at all times with all quality control and approved processes.Adjust/implement new control documents relevant to the production activities in accordance with the company's Quality Management System & policy.Ensure all production related activities are in accordance with SHEQ policies and procedures.Attend weekly meetings with SHEQ Officer and Quality Controller to review and discuss any identified Risks within the production workspace.Manage all aspects of maintenance of tools, machinery, equipment and facilities within the production environment.Daily engagement with Planning Manager to stay well-informed of any delays or shortages in components and consumables – informing any changes or updates to production timelines.Develop trusted advisory relationships with customers.Assist sales team with technical demonstration at handovers and prototype inspections.Oversee troubleshooting and technical diagnosis of vehicles under warranty as well as creating a scope of work for general repairs.Assist in the plan and preparation for the deployment of After-Sales technicians/teams.Control & safekeeping of all customer vehicles on the premises.Identify and address problems and opportunities within the production process.Manage all aspects of housekeeping within the production and assembly areas including the staff facilities.Strive for excellence through continuous improvement processes inline with leading automotive manufacturing practices within the industry.
