Minimum requirements for the role:Must have a trade test or certification in Automotive Engineering or a related fieldValid mechanics qualification with a focus on diesel and petrol engines is requiredMinimum 3-5 years experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, particularly with commercial fleet vehiclesHands-on experience with diagnostic tools and vehicle maintenance equipment is essentialExperience working with diesel engines and hydraulic systems is advantageousMust possess strong problem-solving and diagnostic skillsAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlines is requiredMust have strong communication skills and the ability to work with minimal supervisionKnowledge of health and safety regulations related to vehicle repair and maintenance is essentialMust have valid drivers licenseAbility to lift heavy equipment and work in physically demanding conditions is essentialThe successful candidate will be responsible for:Performing regular inspections and preventative maintenance on a variety of vehicles, including trucks, cars, and other fleet equipment.Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.Repairing or replacing parts as necessary to ensure optimal vehicle performance.Assisting in managing the schedule for fleet maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.Maintaining detailed records of all repairs, services, and parts used.Monitoring vehicle performance and recommending improvements or replacements as needed.Ensuring all vehicles are complying with safety regulations and company policies.Conducting routine checks for roadworthiness, including brakes, lights, tires, and other safety-critical systems.Maintaining awareness of local regulatory requirements related to fleet operations.Managing inventory of parts, tools, and equipment needed for vehicle repairs and maintenance.Ensuring that tools and equipment are being properly maintained and stored.Ordering parts and materials as needed, ensuring cost-effectiveness.Please note that subsequent to the screening and shortlisting process, all further communication will be entered into, only with the shortlisted candidates
