Our basic materials build homes, offices, railways, and airports, and our diamonds fulfil people's dreams.Job DescriptionThis role has a 2.9.2 appointment in terms of the MHSA, Act of 1996 with the following responsibilities:Attend and conduct safety meetings.Conduct and participate in risk assessments.Change tasks and machine settings to minimize the effect of unexpected problems.Report possible defects and plan the action required to rectify the risk or defect.Allocate tasks to subordinates.Attend to breakdowns and emergencies as required.Ensure that material, spares, and equipment are available as required.Ensure proper and adequate on-the-job training and coaching is provided to subordinates.Exercise judgment regarding the replacement of components.Maintain a high quality of work.Record results of all legal examinations in the appropriate format.Work in a sequence that prioritizes work requirements.Complete job cards and descriptions of work and spares used (PMs).Perform work to the required standards and specifications.Apply appropriate tools to complete tasks.Good Employee RelationsIdentify potential conflict situations and minimize the implications of possible conflict.Ensure that subordinates have clear work expectations and plans.Conduct on-the-job induction.Support, coach, and participate in the training and development of subordinates and apprentices.Maintain effective two-way open communication with subordinates and line supervisor.Report at-risk behavior, incidents, and injuries.Interact with other departments.Advise defects and abnormalities to the appropriate supervisor or manager.Recommend employees suitable for career development.This role is in the Engineering Department at a band C2 level reporting to the Engineering Foreman.QualificationsMatric or Technical Trade Specific N3.Certified Competent as Fitter.Competent B will be highly advantageous.Experience5 years mechanized mining experience (advantageous).Knowledge and SkillsEnglish literate (speak, read, and write).Must be able to do standby and overtime.Must be familiar with risk assessment procedures.Valid driving license code 08.Basic computer skills.Additional InformationWho We AreWe aim to lead the industry by pursuing ever safer and more responsible ways of working, demonstrating integrity and showing care and respect for people and the planet.
