Purpose
Strive to proactively reduce the number of emergency incidents by supporting Fire Safety Inspections, training, and equipment maintenance. Ensure that incidents are efficiently and effectively mitigated to preserve life and minimize asset damage by the use of appropriate tactics and best practices.
Who You Are
• You have worked in a Petrochemical industry
• You have experience in Fire Fighting
• You have excellent problem-solving skills
What You Have Done Before Baseline:
• Diploma in Fire Technology or equivalent i.e. IFE, SAESI or TUT
• Basic Ambulance Certificate or Level 3 1st Aid, Code C driver's license
• 5 years Operational experience in a Recognized Fire Brigade, 2 of which as Fire Officer
• Driver's and Physical Fitness Assessment.
Advantageous:
• SAESI Higher Diploma or equivalent (IFE/TUT)
• BAA Registered to HPCSA

What You Will Be Doing Key Accountabilities
• Respond to all incidents using the Incident management system.
• Direct the response team to prioritize Life Safety by effectively sizing up and managing incidents.
• Train and develop Firefighters and Operational Fire Teams in emergency response.
• Strive to proactively reduce the number of emergency incidents.
• Direct and Monitor Fire Safety Inspections.
• Enforce compliance with relevant legislative requirements and SOPs.
• Fulfil the Statutory appointment in terms of the Fire Brigade Services Act 99 of 1987.
• Abide by the regulations of the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
• Track and ensure that all relevant equipment and vehicles are always fully available and operational by ensuring the Daily Routine work is undertaken together with inspections and maintenance as scheduled. Monitor the Barometer to ensure all equipment is serviced and maintained in line with industry norms and standards.
• Support all Engen Business Units where required with respect to training, audits, equipment readiness.
• Foster and sustain effective working relationships and rapport with the government authorities, business and management institutions, national and key industry players, and service providers to keep abreast with latest development to capture new business opportunities.
• Support and guide the development of firefighters.
