PACKAGING WORLD has a vacancy for a Compliance Manager. This position is based in Westmead, Pinetown.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for maintaining policies and procedures and to ensure continuous quality compliance to BRC standards.
Responsibilities
Ensuring overall compliance of the BRC requirements.
Drive the BRC Planner with the team and ensure that the necessary tasks are completed.
Ensure all packing facilities comply with third-party food safety standards and oversee the certification process to maintain top-tier compliance.
Oversee the maintenance of a comprehensive document management system for all operational documentation.
Lead and manage the compliance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Drive food safety activities, including leading meetings, reviewing policies, and refining processes to meet the highest standards.
Identify and mitigate food safety compliance risks to ensure a safe and reliable operation.
Create, update, and implement food safety procedures, and train relevant personnel to ensure effective execution.
Responsible for all document control systems (FSQMS) and implementation thereof.
Advise management on any changes in food safety standards and regulations.
Identify risk and advise on ways to mitigate adverse effects of food safety.
Manage (coordinate, conduct, administer, lead, report) full internal and external auditing processes.
Responsible for pest control and associated processes.
Responsible for Food Safety- and Environmental related training.
Leading Food Safety meetings (HACCP, VACCP & TACCP).
Responsible for maintaining GLOBAL G.A.P. and other farm-related Food Safety manuals.
Liaise with external compliance advisors ensuring grower compliance does not expire and keeping grower related tracking sheets up to date.
Minimum Requirements
Matric with a BSc degree or Diploma in Food Science & Technology or related qualification.
At least 3-5 years' experience in a similar role working with FSQMS, BRC, and HACCP.
Proven experience in the management of the implementation of BRC systems in a packaging manufacturing environment.
Proven internal auditing & HACCP training completed by a registered institution.
Previous experience within a flexible manufacturing environment will be advantageous.
Must have an understanding of industry food safety requirements (e.g., BRC, Tesco, GLOBAL G.A.P or/and HACCP).
Must demonstrate understanding and knowledge of all aspects of hygiene and food safety. Proactive (action-oriented).
Excellent computer literacy (MS Office – Outlook, Word & Excel).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have the ability to compile, analyse and interpret data.
Must be able to work collaboratively in a team towards a shared goal and must be rule conscious.
