Description Provide an Emergency and Firefighting and preventions service. Safety provision and support in conjunction with the site Safety Officer.
Fire Safety and Prevention Develop and implement fire safety protocols and emergency response plans in line with organizational and regulatory standards. Conduct regular fire risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation measures. Coordinate fire drills, training sessions, and fire safety awareness programs for all staff members. Emergency Response Serve as the primary responder for fire-related incidents and ensure effective coordination of emergency response teams. Ensure fire extinguishers, alarm systems, sprinklers, and other firefighting equipment are regularly inspected,maintained, and meet safety standards. Develop and maintain emergency evacuation plans and procedures, ensuring clear communication and training for staff. Risk Assessment and Management Identify potential workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments for fire and other safety threats. Collaborate with the HSE team to develop control measures, implement safety improvements, and reduce risks. Evaluate existing safety protocols and recommend updates in line with current best practices and compliance requirements. Compliance and Reporting Ensure compliance with local fire safety regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies. Maintain accurate records of fire safety activities, including inspection logs, risk assessment reports, and training records. Prepare and present fire and risk assessment reports, incident investigations, and safety audit findings to management.
Requirements Minimum Qualification: Education: Matric- Grade 12 or equivalent Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Fire Officer, Fire Inspector, or Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Certification preferred. Experience: 3+ years of experience in fire safety, risk management, or a similar role in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Knowledge: Familiarity with local fire and safety codes, emergency response procedures, and risk assessment practices.
Certification: Firefighter I & II certification (NFPA or equivalent). Fire Officer I certification (NFPA or equivalent). Certification in CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is often required. Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations certification. Additional certifications, such as Fire Instructor or Fire Inspector, are advantageous
