Your opportunity:
The Financial Services Office is responsible for the provision of a broad range of budget and financial services to customers within the Rotman community. The academic goals and objectives of the School are supported through excellent financial management, and effective and appropriate use of all financial resources. Financial Services concentrates on standard setting through issuance of policies and procedures, on provision of professional consultation, advice and training and on broad-based financial services and initiatives, all within the context of high legal, ethical and professional standards.
As the Financial Assistant, you will be responsible for processing various transactions on FIS; reviewing invoices; answering vendor and customer inquiries; reviewing expense reimbursement forms, ensuring compliance to University policies and procedures; reconciling accounts for Research Centres; assisting the Financial Officers by preparing all documentation for reconciliation and preparing accounting forms and reports for the Director.
Your responsibilities will include: Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable according to the University Guide to Financial ManagementChecking that proper approvals are obtained prior to processing transactionsReconciling accountsProcessing expense reimbursements; reviewing and processing purchase order requestsProcessing and issuing invoices; preparing and processing depositsVerifying that supporting documentation is attached to financial records before processing in FISIdentifying and resolving individual financial discrepanciesResponding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriateEssential Qualifications: Advanced College Diploma (3 years) with an intermediate level in a recognized accounting program or related area; or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experienceMinimum three (3) years experience in a financial services office with demonstrated financial experienceExperience in computerized information systems; experience with FIS is an assetWell developed computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and ExcelA high level of calculator and keyboard accuracy and speed is requiredAbility to organize and manage a high volume of paperworkNumerical aptitude; analytical abilityAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingAbility to work well both independently and as part of a teamInitiative, tact and grace under pressureAssets (Nonessential): Experience in the financial services area in an academic environmentTo be successful in this role you will be: ApproachableArticulateMeticulousOrganizedTeam playerNotes: This is a term to August 2025
