The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of financial operations in the Accounting Department.
The Accounting Manager's responsibilities include the accurate and timely preparation and analyses of all facets of the financial operations of the company, including financial statement preparation, cash management, budget preparation and analyses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and all other fiscally related duties.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all aspects of accounting (accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger entries, SARS, PAYE, and bank reconciliation)
Responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial processing, month end close, cash management reports, and balance sheet reconciliation
Maintain professional banking relationships
Coordinate and direct the development and preparation of budgets, forecasts, and projections
Determine internal audit scope and develop annual plans
Manage Books to Trail Balance
Review financial data for accuracy and verify that transactions have been recorded accurately
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, bank reports, and various detailed analysis reports
Review monthly bookkeeping
Reconcile Debtors and Creditors
Responsible for calculating VAT and other necessary SARS requirements monthly
Preparation and Review of management accounts
Manage and supervise accounting to achieve set goals
Provide daily assistance, guidance and training with regards to bookkeeping, related taxes and SARS submissions
Prepare accounting work relating to annual financial statements
Preparation and Review of financial statements
Preparation and Review of tax returns
Review work done by supervised staff before review, where applicable
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Bookkeeping experience
Possess well-developed interpersonal and communication, verbal, and written skills
Must be result and profit oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations and perform multifaceted projects
Must be highly motivated and have the ability to function independently and multi-task
Ability to manage and direct employees
XERO accounting software experience
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting, combined with 4-5+ years' experience in Accounting/Finance; Qualifications: BAcc, BCom Accounting, BCompt or equivalent degree
Completed articles with a medium / large firm preferred
Experience working on Multiple entities preferred
Working knowledge of CaseWare, Excel and Word; Knowledge of accounting systems (Pastel, Sage, Xero)
