Financial Accountant

Home Concept is a furniture business specializing in manufacturing and retail services, operating in New Germany (Durban) for over 20 years. We are seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to oversee our financial reporting and management functions and lead a small accounting/finance team. This role involves not only fulfilling the full reporting requirements but also training and coaching the team and reviewing their work and performance.
Reporting To: Financial Director
Key Responsibilities:

Full financial reporting function, ensuring compliance with IFRS for SMEs.
Advanced proficiency in MS Office/Excel.
Compile and review accurate and timely monthly and yearly management accounts.
Ensure correct P&L and balance sheet allocations.
Monthly balance sheet preparation and General Ledger reconciliations.
Manage debtors and creditors.
Oversee payroll and payments.
Prepare and file VAT returns, PAYE returns, EMP501, and other SARS-related documents.
Prepare for annual reviews and handle independent reviewer queries.
Maintain the fixed asset register.
Engage with various internal and external stakeholders effectively.
Provide financial information required by directors and support business applications.

Minimum Requirements:

Completed degree in accounting (essential).
At least 3 years of experience in a similar financial management role.
Knowledge of IFRS for SMEs, financial systems, controls, and management practices.
Familiarity with Pastel Evolution and Simplepay; knowledge of Xero accounting would be a plus.
Strong organizational skills, deadline-driven, and able to work independently.
Proactive in leading, managing, and training staff members.
Excellent communication skills.

Additional Requirements:

Reliable vehicle and valid driver's license (required).

Note: This is not a remote working position.
Ad Hoc Duties:

Perform any additional tasks as assigned by the Financial Director.
Address and assist with any issues arising from other departments.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field (preferred).
