The Financial Accountant will support the Finance team to ensure compliance with all deadlines.Some of the key areas of responsibilities will be as follows:Local Annual Financial Statements (AFS) for the Branch & SubsidiaryAssist with supporting calculations and non-technical note disclosures in the AFSComplete online iXBRL format for Annual Financial Statements for CIPC submissionBranch & SubsidiaryPrepare monthly VAT workings for submission to Tax Authority,Preparation of detailed workings for the VAT submissionSearch for supporting documentation/ invoices (DMS) to justify/confirm VAT treatment of specific line itemsQuarterly SARB Submissions (Separate form for life and non-life)Preparation of workings for C68 submission as per template required by SARBQuarterly & Annual Return AssistanceAssist with rolling forward QRT template, working files and documentation to ensure smoother process in completing the QRT for the quarterBi-weekly payments (technical & non-technical)Enter invoices in SAP for paymentPrepare payment packs for payments to be madeEnsure proof of payments are sent to VendorsEnsure the accuracy of new vendor account details via telephone calls and obtaining bank confirmation letters from suppliersWeekly cash reporting to Group TreasuryCapturing monthly bank statements on manual bank accountsCorporate Credit cardsSend out Credit Card statements for captureFollow up on expenses not captured in Concur before deadlineReconciliation of expenses captured to statements receivedPerform monthly bank reconciliationsCompletion of reconciliation for all bank accountsPosting clearing journalsPosting missing entries needed in the GLGeneral Ledger ManagementMaintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completenessDeregistration of SCOR Africa LimitedAssist with this process where required and upon instructionAd-hoc administrative activitiesPreparing letters to the Bank, when requestedGathering documentation and completion of forms for any applications/notifications to the Prudential AuthorityAssisting with any other forms or questionnaires when received and upon requestCollaborationWork closely with the finance team & other departments to support business initiativesThis is not intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities.
The successful candidate may be required to complete other reasonable duties in order to achieve business objectives.Required experience & competenciesProven experience as a Financial Accountant or similar roleStrong knowledge of accounting principles and practicesExceptional attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality in all outputsAbility to adapt quickly to changing prioritiesProficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office SuiteAdvanced Excel experienceSAP Experience will prove beneficialExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectivelyExperience in managing multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, with a track record of delivering on timeRequired EducationBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent qualificationsProfessional accounting qualification (e.g., CA(SA) preferred)Completed articles (preferred)Preferably, a few years post articles experience within the Insurance Industry
