Main purpose of the job:To provide a strategic financial and administrative framework within which the Core department are able to function optimally and to provide leadership with regard to all financial mattersLocation:31 Princess of Wales Terrace, Parktown - JohannesburgKey performance areas:Financial management Develop and implement financial strategies, including systems, processes, procedures and policies by practicing sound governanceImplement and enhance financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systemsProvide strategies in the set-up of the Finance departmentEstablish financial management mechanisms that reduce financial riskOversee legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functionsReview and approval of all relevant journalsReview and approval of all monthly balance sheet reconciliationsAssist/back up to the accountants on EPMV complianceClose out - Review TB and ensure all entries have been captured, assets transferred, and account closedFollow up on long outstanding internal and external debtorsPetty cash/E-wallet/Pro cards/ FNB credit and debit cards – review and approve reconsMaintain and update the finance dashboardSubawards – Ensure reports are received timeously and expenses captured timeouslyEnsure compliance with donor requirements and management of auditsEnsuring all costs incurred by the division are compliant with WHC policies as well as donor rulesIncludes timing and planning of auditLiaising with WHC Compliance, donors and auditors on issues raised and resolving such issuesAssist with queries from the AuditorAssist to coordinates audit support from their respective teamsAcceptable level of compliance issues will determine performanceFinancial reportingManage the consolidation of relevant financial reporting dataManage and review all month-end and year-end closing activitiesManage the preparation and communication of month-end and year-end financial statementsPerform monthly Income analysis on a budget vs Actual basisProduce accurate financial reports within set deadlines to relevant stakeholdersPerform trend analysis and make recommendationsReview TB for year endStakeholder liaison, customer service and financial advice Gain a full understanding of the division's needsAlert the division of exceptional problemsCommunicate with senior management (including Leadership Groups) regarding cash flow and business developmentsProvide strategic input and advice into the appropriate resource and technical capacities for WHCServe as the point of contact for internal and external auditorsCommunicate with site daily and provide relevant assistanceRequired minimum education and training: Bachelor's Degree in financial field Required minimum work experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in Accounting and/or Financial Management Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:Sound knowledge of financial managementSound written and verbal communication skillsA broad knowledge and understanding of financial and management accounting principlesAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and accounting systems i.e.
Sage X3A high degree of integrity and trust.
