Service Team Leader
Your role and responsibilities: In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work with low to medium complexity as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. Each day, you will plan and execute work on a first-time right approach with customers. You will also showcase your expertise by displaying a clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in your own area of responsibility. Take action to identify new Service Business Opportunities for ABB in co-operation with the customer and other ABB Team Members. The work model for the role is: Onsite.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Health, safety, and integrity: Adhere to standards of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) and comply with ABB and the Clients Company Health, Safety & Environment Management System requirements; takes reasonable care of one's own health and safety and that of others in the workplace.Service delivery: As a member of the ABB ELSE team the main purpose of the Field Service Engineer - Commissioning role is to deliver a high quality, consistent and competent service in accordance with project/company requirements, standards, and procedures to support overall delivery of company goals and schedule.Safely perform testing and commissioning functions on the following within the given time frame:Medium/LV voltage distribution systemsMedium/LV voltage switchgearDigital Switch GearProtection relaysProtection relay coordination, settings, SLDs, cable schedule, Key Schematic DiagramsMedium/LV voltage retrofit installationsBattery chargersCompletion of approved commissioning check sheetsAssist vendor representatives and site operations in commissioning and startup (energization) activities for medium and low voltage electrical systems.Update and markup drawings during commissioningPreparation of testing and pre-commissioning reportCompetent to use all test equipment.Documentation and reports: Prepares all documents and customer reports to be signed by the customer representative. Utilize all relevant tools. Reports work done in a timely manner and follows up when needed.Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot Equipment/Process failures and requests proactive corrective actions and makes recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future.Service excellence: Proactively plans and executes work on a first-time right approach with customers and ensures the job is done on time and on quality. Identifies improvement needs and potential solutions for them in the way of working.People leadership and development: Provides technical guidance to associates. Acts as trainer when needed, for field service associates and customers.Challenges: Do standby. Travelling to various sites. Working under pressure. Working in and outside South Africa's borders.Qualifications for the role: 5-8 years industry experienceDiploma in Electrical Engineering trained and certified protection specialistB Tech in Electrical EngineeringAbility to read and interpret circuit diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, SABS installation standards etc.Switchgear repairs and testingAbility to use a variety of electrical test equipmentValid Driver's LicenseValid PassportMore about us: We value people from different backgrounds.
