Field Guide & Assistant Lodge Manager (Couple) - Prestigious Lodge - Eastern CapeOur client, a prestigious lodge in the Great Karoo, Eastern Cape, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic couple to join their team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain experience and grow in the ecotourism and hospitality sector. The position involves working as a Field Guide/Trails Guide and an Assistant Lodge Manager, providing a diverse range of responsibilities and the chance to contribute to both the field and lodge operations.
DescriptionConduct engaging game drives and bush walks.Host guests, providing an informative and immersive experience.Prepare and present informative presentations about the reserve.Monitor key species and assist with security measures.Contribute to reserve and general maintenance tasks.Support the daily operations of the lodge, including front-of-house duties.Efficiently coordinate guest reservations, check-ins, and check-outs.Supervise housekeeping staff and manage shifts.Oversee kitchen and bar operations, including stock takes and ordering.Maintain high service standards and guest satisfaction.Handle general office administration and staff training.Act as backup and relief for the General Manager.Minimum RequirementsFGASA NQF2/NQF4 certification.Lead Trails Guide qualification is an advantage.Advanced Rifle Handling & proficiency (ARH).SAPS Competency certificate.Minimum two years of field guide experience in a Big 5 reserve.Valid NDT registration and PrDP license.Valid First Aid certificate.Two to three years of experience in a similar hospitality role/environment.Computer literacy, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Fluent in English and Afrikaans, both spoken and written.Positive, enthusiastic attitude with a strong sense of responsibility.4x4 and off-road driving experience.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong organizational skills, punctuality, and commitment.Proactive, self-motivated, flexible, and reliable.Accommodation on-site, uniform, and a monthly food allowance included. Time off: 21 working days on duty and 7 days off.
