Farm manager for coffee plantation in East African Rift Valley - Tanzania
For our 300ha (135ha coffee) farm in the southern highlands of Tanzania we hire a
FULLY QUALIFIED FARM MANAGER/OPERATIONS MANAGER
The Farm produces a renowned, high-quality coffee for local roasting and export.
The production is partially mechanized, and the farm is equipped with a modern processing unit as well as all other necessary equipment and buildings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Degree or Diploma in Agriculture / Agronomy, over 30 years of age
Min. 5 years' experience in farm management such as vineyard, orchard or other perennial crop
Consistent record of long-term employments
Strong interest and knowledge of crop cultivation and farm operations
Computer literate, especially Excel
Desire to lead and control
Sober and hard-working personality
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the daily running of the farm; plan and delegate
Directly supervise a team of junior agronomists, administrative staff and mechanics
Keep accurate records of stocks, purchases and other expenses and assure timely reporting to directors
Manage cash flow accurately, monitor the budget and deliver reports for the same
Assure timely maintenance of vehicles, implements, buildings and processing unit
Order stocks and spare parts on time and always when minimum stock levels are reached
Preparing plans and schedules for irrigation, planting and harvesting
Ensure compliance with governmental and company regulations
Monitoring daily harvest volumes and picker payments
Building professional networks and keeping abreast of developments in agricultural science. Assure correct and timely application of agro-chemicals
We offer an attractive salary, modern and comfortable housing, private car, a maid and a gardener, round trip travel at beginning/end of the contract, 4 week annual leave and medical care within Tanzania. Initial contract duration is 2 years, but objective should be 4 years or more.
Salary R $ 2200 NETT
2-year contract with extension option
Net salary (payout per month) is in the vicinity of USD 1750 but there will be about USD 500 (50% employer 50% employee on top (NSSF saving, which is paid out at end of employment). Salary level is obviously a matter of qualification and experience
Travel to Tanzania for employee and ev. partner (max. USD 300 extra luggage allowance) and back at the end of employment
Furnished 3-bedroom (self-contained) house including water, power and vegetables from Lodge garden
4 weeks leave (includes local vacations, timing in agreement with directors, not during harvest)
Medical inside Tanzania up to USD 3000 p.a.
Company car (can be used also privately)
