The Goethe-Institut Johannesburg is looking for a Facility and Maintenance Coordinator on a 50% basis, working in the Goethe-Institut Johannesburg office from 1st of December 2024. The contract is for 20 hours a week and limited to a 2-year contract with a salary based on the applicable remuneration scheme of the Goethe-Institut South Africa.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESFacility Management:Oversee the overall maintenance and operation of the building.Address minor defects through repair work.Coordination of External Service Providers:Obtain and compare quotes from various service providers, according to Goethe-Institut procurement regulations.Monitor and evaluate the performance of external contractors to ensure quality standards.Technical Support for Events and Exams:Provide technical support for events and examinations, ensuring all necessary equipment and technology are functioning properly.Assist with events, including assembly, dismantling, cleaning, technology setup, transport, and purchasing.Drive the company car when needed, including running errands and picking up guests for the Institut.Health and Safety Officer:Implement and monitor health and safety regulations within the Institut.Conduct training sessions on health and safety protocols for staff.General Support Duties:Provide assistance with various general duties as needed within the organization.Preparation of VKs.Substitution for driver, caretaker and operations officer.Requirements:Education:Relevant educational background in facility management, maintenance, or a related field.Health and Safety certificate (Advantageous).Experience:Previous experience in facility management, maintenance coordination, or a similar role, with a focus on event coordination and health and safety.Interpersonal Skills:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Organizational Skills:Strong organizational abilities, with a structured and meticulous approach to work.Flexibility:Work on weekends necessary.Driver's License:Valid code 10 driver license.Additional Requirements:No criminal record or pending cases.South African work permit, non-South African applicants need to have a valid work permit for South Africa.How to apply:Please send your CV and a short motivation letter exclusively by e-mail to ****** no later than 24 October 2024.
