About the Role:We are looking for aExpert Analyst with a passion for the South African renewable energy and water sectors. This position focuses on providing strategic technical expertise in the water sector, driving investment and innovation in water technologies and services. As part of a dynamic team, the Expert Analyst will lead key projects, influence policy, and support municipalities and stakeholders in creating resilient water systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the technical lead for water sector projects, driving innovative solutions to improve water resource efficiency and resilience.Develop viable business cases for water infrastructure investments, and provide expert support to municipalities and government entities.Manage and lead cross-sectoral projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, and fostering collaboration across teams.Engage with stakeholders to identify and address barriers to water sector investment, including fostering partnerships to secure funding for sustainable water projects.Analyse and interpret complex technical data related to water and wastewater infrastructure, non-sewered sanitation technologies, and market opportunities.Mentor and lead junior team members, guiding their professional development within the water programme.Contribute to the companies strategic initiatives by providing expert input on sector strategy, policy decisions, and project management.
Qualifications and Experience:
Masters degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, or Resource Management.A minimum of 6+ years of experience in the water sector, with proven leadership in managing technical and investment-driven projects.Strong understanding of sustainable water and wastewater technologies, including non-sewered sanitation systems.Established network within the water sector, particularly in Western Cape municipalities and water technology providers.Experience in providing technical support to municipalities and engaging with key stakeholders.Proficiency in analysing water infrastructure projects and investment pipelines.
Competencies:
Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders across business, government, and funders.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with experience in defining interventions to grow water markets.Leadership qualities, with the ability to manage teams, projects, and stakeholder relationships effectively.
Advantages:
Fluency in Afrikaans, isiXhosa, or isiZulu in addition to English.Established network with key stakeholders in the water sector (technology providers, consultants, government bodies, NGOs, academia).Experience in securing funding opportunities and building high-quality stakeholder relationships.
