Howden South Africa Division is looking for an experienced Environmental Officer for all our Howden sites to make sure we comply with the set environmental standards (internal, client standards & statutory compliance).
What needs to be done?
The responsibility of the Environmental Officer is to provide assurance, advice, assist and support to the Howden Construction and Project Manager in the management of the environmental issues on the project which includes:
Ensuring compliance to the ISO 14001:2015: Environmental Management Requirement System, Environmental Authorization (EA) and the Environmental Management Plan (EMP), National Environmental Management Act, Waste Management License (WML), Tree cutting permits, Animals Protection Act, Eskom standards and any environmental compliance obligation applicable to the Project.
Conducting Environmental incident investigations and inspections.
Enforcement of environmental applicable acts and regulations on the project.
Providing technical advice to the construction and project manager on the project environmental risks.
Assessing impacts on sites and writing of impacts and aspects registers together with the method statements for the environmental issues on site.
Effectively liaise and communicate with senior management on environmental issues encountered on site.
Advising Howden and the customer of any environmental issues that may be encountered on the project.
What do you need to bring?
Degree in Environmental studies.
Environmental management training – ISO 14001:2015.
SACNASP Registered as a natural scientist.
SAMTRAC or Equivalent / Higher certification will be advantageous.
Incident and accident investigation course.
HIRA course.
Basic SHE audit course.
Understanding of the Environment and related regulations applicable to the working site.
Must be computer literate.
