DESCRIPTION:Leads, supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for continuous improvement and maintenance of plant equipment, machinery, and related facilities. Ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
REQUIREMENTS:

5-10 years of plant maintenance experience.
5 years' experience in a lead supervisory/managerial role in the FMCG/Manufacturing Industry.
N6/Btech (NQF 6 minimum) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
The Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) Factories ticket.
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in electrical or mechanical maintenance systems or a related field.
Red Seal Trade Test qualification as Millwright/ Electrician/ Mechatronics Technician.
Supervisory Management or any Management Certificate/ Qualification will be advantageous.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for maintenance of the plant including repair and installation of all electronic, electric, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment.
Establish schedules and methods for providing maintenance and repair services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
Schedule Day-to-Day work for all maintenance technicians.
Ensure Schedule monthly Preventative Maintenance plans.
Assign all repair work.
Regularly Inspecting the facility.
Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures.
Perform the more technical and complex tasks of the work unit including purchasing of all maintenance and repair equipment and supplies. Monitor critical stock count monthly and evaluate the critical stores periodically.
Supervise and the companies job card procedure. Inspect all artisans work before signing out any Job cards.
Run and administer the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
Participate in the selection of plant maintenance staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures with HR.
Participate in the preparation and administration of the plant maintenance program budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.
Plan and administer annual shutdown work.
Meet all KPI Objectives assigned to him/her. Implement action plans when not meeting the set objectives to ensure KPI's are always met. Performance reviews will be based but not limited to KPI's.
Drive continues improvement initiatives and any projects assigned to him/her.
Attend and participate in meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the company's field/industry relating to plant equipment maintenance.
Host morning toolbox talks with Emphasis on Safety.
Ensure housekeeping is upheld by all artisans and that the workshop remains clean and orderly. Implement and ensure the continuous improvement of a State-of-the-art workshop.
May need to work extra hours as and when required.
Perform any other related duties as required by the employer.

Select, train and evaluate staff.
Troubleshoot and maintain plant equipment, machinery and related facilities.
Operate electrical and electronic troubleshooting equipment.
Operate milling and metal fabricating equipment.
Operate and repair heavy machinery; prepare clear and concise reports.
Respond in emergency situations.
Operate office equipment including computers and supporting software applications.
Adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems.
Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing and establish and maintain working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
