Job Description The Digital Engineering Lead is responsible for guiding and overseeing the development and implementation of digital solutions that drive technological innovation and enhance business processes. This role involves leading a team of engineers and technologists to design, build, and optimize digital systems and platforms, ensuring they align with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities: Deliver High-Quality Solutions: Ensure the successful design, development, and deployments meet and exceed organizational requirements and industry standards.Optimize System Performance: Continuously evaluate and enhance the performance, reliability, and scalability of the system to support business needs and improve user satisfaction.Align with Strategic Goals: Develop and implement solutions that align with the organization's strategic objectives, driving efficiency and supporting business growth.Digital Solution Design: Oversee the design and development of digital solutions, including applications, platforms, and systems, ensuring they align with organizational goals and meet technical and business requirements.Technology Strategy: Contribute to the development and execution of strategies for leveraging emerging technologies and digital trends to enhance business processes, drive innovation, and support digital transformation initiatives.Architecture and Integration: Design and implement scalable and robust digital architectures, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and alignment with overall technology strategies.Continuous Improvement: Drive Innovation: Play a pivotal role in identifying and implementing innovative technologies and methodologies to enhance system functionality and maintain a competitive edge.Innovation and Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation by staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies, proposing and implementing new solutions to enhance digital capabilities.Service Delivery: Foster Collaboration and Communication: Promote effective communication and collaboration across teams and with stakeholders to ensure alignment, manage expectations, and facilitate successful project outcomes.Develop work routines in line with operational plans/schedules to manage achievement of service delivery goals.Share knowledge on, and participate in the creation of new standards, control systems, and procedures to maintain service delivery.Cost Efficiency: Manage Project Timelines and Budgets: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.Ensure Compliance and Security: Implement and enforce best practices for compliance, security, and data protection within the system, adhering to regulatory requirements and organizational policies.Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for digital engineering projects, including design specifications, technical guides, and process documentation (SOP).People Management: Lead and Develop the Team: Build and maintain a high-performing development team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and performance.Leadership and Management: Lead and mentor a team of digital engineers and technologists, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations to drive high-quality output and professional growth.Experience, Knowledge & Skills Required: A relevant bachelor's degree in computer science or related qualification at NQF7 level or equivalent qualification.8-10 years' experience with Java, ReactJS, or similar.4+ years in a senior role.Experience in Agile Methodology and Safe/Scrum Framework.Exposure to AWS or related cloud infrastructure.Exposure to cost, invoice, and service providers management.Experience working on projects for middle market and enterprise size insurance companies preferred.Proven experience in managing and guiding a technical team comprising over 5 members.Experience on cloud event monitoring tools for always-on including reporting, RCA, and remediation.Experience with CI/CD.Closing Date: 05 November 2024
