The Role
The purpose of this job is to provide energy efficiency advice and casework-level support to individuals and families living in low-income households and facing fuel poverty.
Primary Goals of the Project
Raise Awareness & Energy Savings: Educate vulnerable local communities about strategies for reducing energy costs and achieving long-term energy and financial savings.
Energy Advice & Fuel Debt Support: Offer detailed guidance on energy management, including addressing fuel debt issues.
Assist Vulnerable Communities in Energy Crisis: Equip particularly vulnerable households with skills necessary to cope with energy debt.
Income Maximisation & Benefits Awareness: Help raise awareness about entitlements and assist clients in claiming relevant benefits.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct detailed confidential interviews with clients, applying a holistic approach to assess their needs.
Provide energy efficiency advice and casework support that adheres to the Advice Quality Standard (AQS).
Comply with AQS case management and case recording procedures.
Deliver high-quality one-to-one advice and casework on energy efficiency.
Raise awareness and assist people in saving on energy costs.
Facilitate monthly workshops about fuel poverty and tools available for assistance.
Provide advice and assistance through various channels.
Tailor services to meet the needs of clients, considering communication and vulnerability issues.
Ensure clients remain informed throughout the process of resolving their issues.
Provide advice around energy efficiency, money management, and accessing financial products.
Skills & Experience
Minimum 1 year experience in a similar post.
Experience in Energy and Efficiency advice work.
Understanding of financial literacy.
Ability to work to clear goals and targets.
Experience in recording outcomes and report writing.
Experience working within a diverse community.
Knowledge of the voluntary sector.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Ability to work without supervision.
Ability to provide culturally sensitive advice and guidance.
Ability to work under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
