Location: Kempton Park, JHBJob Description:The Employee Relations Specialist will manage and co-ordinate all requirements in relation to employee relations management.
This position is ideal for someone who does not want to become a practicing attorney and who is interested in becoming established in the ER or legal departments of corporate.Requirements:Bachelors Degree in LLB / or BCom / BA Labour Relations5 years experience in distribution, FMCG manufacturing, road freight, logistics and supply chain fieldPrevious experience in a similar roleMust be proficient in stakeholder managementIn-depth knowledge of LRA, BCEA, BBBEE, EE, CCMA Rules, and relevant Sectoral DeterminationsStrong IR experience which must include experience in a unionized environment, managing organizational rights, wage negotiations and implementation of collective and recognition agreementsResponsibilities:Act as the liaison between the senior management and the employees with regards to any ER related mattersProvide employee relations guidance and provide advice to employees about company and governmental rules, regulations, and procedures, and need for complianceFacilitate disciplinary actions to be taken against employees, this will include the drafting of charges, and coordinating disciplinary hearingsTo be the first point of contact to the business for all ER process and policy queries and/or issuesTo provide an end-to-end case management service with regards to all ER processes, including but not limited to discipline management, poor performance management, grievance management and sick leave managementPrepare & represent the employer at CCMA in conciliations, in limine and arbitrationsPrepare relevant pleadings including but not limited to: objections, preliminary points, heads and closing arguments, oppositions to condonations, recissions etc.Prepare in house employee relations training material and conduct training in accordance with business unit needWrite monthly news letters on a variety of ER related topicsFacilitate & conduct grievances, investigations, suspensions, disciplinary enquiries, appeals, incapacities and retrenchmentsEnsure adherence to both substantive and procedural fairness in the above-mentioned areas as well as compliance with internal HR and ER standard operating proceduresCompile and report on employee relations activity on a monthly basisAdhoc tasks allocated by senior managementIdentify risk areas & advise on mechanisms to mitigate riskSupport Project tasks, plan and manage all projects within timelines, actively support and lead projects
