Introduction
The primary focus of the role includes: Providing executive leadership in the continuous evaluation of short- and long-term strategic financial objectives and offering recommendations to enhance financial performance and business opportunities. Overseeing the Division's risk management, including general liabilities, investments, and related insurance and risk mitigation coverage. Working closely with the CEO and providing strategic advice on investment strategies, considering cash and liquidity risks. Ensuring compliance with Corporate Governance policies and other financial and commercial legislation requirements. Assisting the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in strategic and day-to-day matters relating to cost-benefit analysis, budget management, forecasting needs, and securing new funding.
Minimum Requirements Minimum Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in business, BCom, or equivalentCA (S.A.) and professional registrationWork Experience: 10 years of senior executive financial management experienceProven track record in manufacturing in a medium/large organizationExperience in strategic and operational planning and corporate governanceKnowledge & Skills: IFRS, foreign currency markets, interest rate instruments, and SAP systemsStrong interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking skillsAdvanced problem-solving and multi-tasking abilitiesExcellent communication and negotiation skillsPersonal Attributes: High integrity, urgency, and result orientationCreative problem-solving and sound judgmentChange agility and a focus on growing relationshipsJob Description Key Performance Output Areas Formulate strategic plans for operational teams to meet objectives cost-effectively.Direct pricing mandates for a standardized approach to pricing, costing, and commercial offers.Oversee the commercial process and provide leadership in contract negotiations.Input into capital project approvals and ensure governance.Drive financial sustainability by focusing on high-margin products.Ensure AFS compliance with IFRS.Manage financial performance and reporting, including internal controls, variance analysis, and profit margin management.Implement effective budgeting and forecasting.Corporate Governance & Statutory Compliance Develop and review internal control systems.Liaise with internal audit for compliance.Ensure tax planning and compliance with SARS legislation.Oversee company secretarial work per the Companies Act.Critical Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with the CEO on the company's strategic vision and stakeholder relationships.Manage internal supplier relationships and drive process improvement.Provide financial insights at Board and subcommittee meetings.Strategic Procurement Oversee strategic procurement for best value and effective supplier management.Align procurement strategies with operational goals.Treasury Functions Define working capital policies and manage treasury risk.Oversee foreign exchange and interest rate exposure.Implement policies for derivatives and manage funding instruments.Business Risk & Control Management Develop credit management policies and oversee insurance cover.Manage financial derivatives and risk management exposure.Regularly review Enterprise Risk Management to ensure sustainability.Promote performance measurement and opportunity assessment principles.Mentor employees and foster a culture of continuous improvement.Key Customers: Internal: Chief Executive; own management team; Senior Management and Executives across the business
