A poultry processing facility in Stutterheim is seeking to employ an Electrician to join our Farms Maintenance Department. A successful candidate will fit best with the following criteria:
Experience
3 - 5 years of Electrician or related experience in a production/agricultural environment.
Job Related Experience
Current wireman's license. Maintenance on broiler houses is advantageous.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Responsible for electrical work within the farms department.
Carry out electrical repairs on machinery for the company and ensure sound electrical maintenance to reduce necessity for repairs.
Installation of new electrical equipment.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Assist the maintenance manager with non-electrical problems when required.
Order electrical parts to ensure that parts are always readily available.
Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
Maintain a working schedule detailing weekly duties that need to be carried out and log daily activities.
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Carry out electrical checklist for generators, distribution boards, and electric motors to ensure good working order.
Ensure availability for stand-by duties.
Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations (Wireman's Licence course).
Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
Maintain records and files, preparing reports.
Ensure stand-by generators are working properly during power outages.
Ensure all paperwork and checklists are completed correctly and submitted as required.
