POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION MAIN OFFICE LOCATION: Located in Nigel (Ekurhuleni) at the production site.
MAIN NETWORK: Alstom Management TeamAlstom EHS NetworkOther Functions: Human Resources, Manufacturing, Platform, FinancesRESPONSIBILITIES: Cooperate with internal resources to achieve EHS objectives.Support the Site EHS Manager to perform EHS Risk Assessment and define appropriate measures to control risks.Support the EHS Site Manager to prepare, implement and maintain emergency plans.Assist Site EHS Manager to coordinate and control activities with respect to EHS, especially where interfaces are involved with other contractors or operation areas.Provide support and advice to site personnel to prevent injury, damage to plant and equipment, fire, and environmental pollution.Recognize best practices and good performance. React to violations of regulations and Alstom Standards.Advise other Site personnel on all aspects of EHS applicable to site activities.DEVELOP SITE EHS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Support the Site EHS Manager to develop, deploy, and maintain local procedures and tools aligned with Alstom Standards and international standards (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001).Ensure that Alstom EHS standards and tools (Alstom Zero Deviation Plan (AZDP), Transport Operational Performance in Environment (TOPE), Transport Key processes) are deployed at Site level.EHS COMPLIANCE Assist the Site EHS Manager to ensure compliance of site activities according to the EHS Plan, guidelines, and work instructions.Perform EHS legal compliance checks for specific requirements.DEVELOP EHS CULTURE IN THE SITE Inform, instruct, and train employees to carry out work in a safe and environmentally friendly manner according to the method of statement.Participate in the implementation of site EHS training programs by providing EHS inductions and ensuring Toolbox meetings are organized.REPORT, MEASURE & REVIEW Support the EHS Site Manager to capture, report, record, investigate, and analyze accidents/incidents to implement corrective and preventive actions.Support the preparation of monthly EHS reports and manage EHS reporting system in line with Group reporting requirements under the control of Site EHS manager.Carry out inspections of work areas and conduct EHS audits, reporting any discrepancies.PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS Injury Frequency Rate (IFR) 1 & IFR 2Fatality/severe accidentsSOV number or other leading indicatorsHealth and wellbeing (Occupational diseases, ergonomic)Environment (Energy, water, waste, Transport Operational Performance in Environment, Volatile Organic Compound)EDUCATION University Engineer or Technical QualificationHealth & Safety Qualification recognized by the enforcing authorities in the country of operation (when required). Nationally recognized, minimum 3 years qualificationEXPERIENCE Professional experience of 3 years (can be adjusted depending on the size of the Site).Experience of almost 3 years in Environment, Health & Safety.Highly recommended experience for manufacturing sites or Regional Centers.Good knowledge and understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.Deep knowledge of local legal EHS requirements, including all SA Regulations for Contractor Management.TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/COMPETENCIES Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills.Commercial and financial awareness, with a full understanding of the impact of failure regarding business costs, production targets, and fulfillment of customer orders.Results-oriented and organized with the ability to plan and deliver against deadlines.Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail.Strong negotiation skills & leadership.Active team player, deadline-driven, process-driven.Good communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally.BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES Strong leadership (in front of Supplier and internal Stakeholders).Cross Functional Team management.Can drive change/is a Change Agent.Autonomous.Able to get a global vision of the business, risks & opportunities.Priorities & Project Management.Materials requirements planning.Inventory management & Material Planning techniques.Transport & Distribution.Supply Chain information systems.Data analytics.Sourcing For Non-Sourcing.Agility.You don't need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us.
