Role Summary:
In this role, you will supervise hourly employees in the receipt, processing, packaging, storage, order filling, and shipment of parts to Caterpillar Dealers, Distribution Centers, and Regional Distribution Centers.
What you will be doing:
Ensuring parts inventory is received, processed, and stored safely and efficiently.
Responding to dealer/dealer service calls and making immediate decisions to resolve issues.
Assigning, directing, and motivating employees to conform to defined processes.
Providing necessary on-the-job and standard work training.
Improving productivity and quality by taking ownership of the process.
Leading teams on problem resolution and process improvement.
Maintaining high employee morale through effective work discipline.
Conducting daily Safety Meetings and observing employees for unsafe behaviours.
Conducting grievance meetings with employees and union committeemen.
Preparing and maintaining necessary paperwork for hourly payroll and attendance records.
Encouraging and motivating to ensure optimal production.
Discussing skills gaps and developing succession plans for the team.
Skills you will have:
Logistics Management: The ability to effectively plan, implement, and control the efficient flow and storage of goods.
Materials Handling and Management: Knowledge of material handling processes related to parts and storage.
Data Analysis: Utilizing data to identify trends and enhance inventory management strategies.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues within the distribution process.
Coaching Others: Knowledge of coaching and mentoring concepts.
ERP Systems: Understanding software for inventory and logistics management.
Root Cause Analysis: The ability to identify underlying causes of problems in the distribution process.
Analytical Thinking: Using tools like Excel to analyze information and track KPIs.
Time Management: Prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
Customer Service: Understanding customer needs and resolving related problems.
Continuous Improvement: Creating a culture of continuous improvement initiatives.
What will put you forward:
3 – 5 years operations and logistics management experience.
Degree in logistics, supply chain, or engineering is preferable.
Knowledge of Six Sigma.
Strong leadership, analytical, and people skills.
Strong computer skills.
Knowledge of SAP SPM is an advantage.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to work shifts is a requirement.
