Diesel Mechanic

Job Function
The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing trucks, trailers, and ancillary equipment.
Key Performance Areas

Repairing, maintenance, and servicing of trucks and trailers.
Examine trailers and trucks, identify defects, and repair all defects.
Conduct quality checks on repaired trailers and trucks to ensure standards are maintained.
Attend to breakdowns as necessary; work standby and shifts on a rotation basis.
Examine and diagnose defects correctly and take appropriate corrective action.
Monthly stock takes.
Ordering and capturing of parts on Freeway system.
Adhere to company policies & procedures, HSSEQ, housekeeping, and customer standards at all times.
Perform preventative maintenance.
Ensure appearance of vehicles and trailers conforms to company standards.
Basic electrical experience.

Qualifications Required
Preferably Grade 12.
Skills and Experience Required

Minimum of 1 year of related experience.
Willing and able to work long hours and do standby duties as required.
Problem-solving skills and analytical ability.
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Must have reliable transport.
The applicant must have a valid Code B driver's license; a code EC with PDP will be preferred.

Other Requirements
Appointment is subject to positive security clearance as well as passing the in-house proficiency test.
