DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (Central Breede River Water Users Association)
TO APPLY, FOLLOW THE LINK: https://forms.gle/wLfzJ8nBCivJLbfH9 The Central Breede River Water Users Association controls and monitors all water extracted from the Breede River downstream of the Greater Brandvlei Government Water Scheme at Worcester, up to the confluence of the Cogmanskloof River. The Association services around 19 000 hectares of water rights through collaborative water resource planning and distribution, ensuring a sustainable water supply and equitable water distribution, predominantly to the local agricultural sector.
Central Breede River Water Users Association is currently expanding their leadership team to give effect to their succession management strategy. This role was specifically created for a designated successor to gradually assume responsibilities from the Association's current Chief Executive Officer, who is nearing retirement.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight in the management of water resources and infrastructure Lead and manage junior and middle management staff, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability Support the Chief Executive Officer in all aspects of general operational management, including financial management, human resource management and resource allocation Oversee the planning, development, and execution of projects Collaborate and build positive relationships with key stakeholders, members, government agencies and local communities Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and procedures to ensure good governance and legal compliance REQUIREMENTS: An Honours degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) Extensive knowledge of the National Water Act (36 of 1998) will be advantageous Working knowledge of South African Employment Legislation, including BCEA, LRA, and OHSA A minimum of 10 years' experience in water management and infrastructure, of which 3 years was in a senior management role Valid Code B (8) driver's licence Fully mobile and medically fit COMPETENCIES: Fully proficient in Afrikaans and English Proven leadership and decision-making capabilities Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills High level of integrity and adherence to ethical standards Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development For general inquiries, please contact WorkWell Recruitment at ******
