Duties: Responsible for the overall executive management, as well as for providing visionary leadership aligned with the institutional strategy.Responsible for the strategic management and leadership of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences in teaching, learning, research, internationalisation, innovation, and social impact.Promoting opportunities that unlock research funding.Promoting research excellence, research translation, establishing externally funded chairs, and supporting recruitment and retention of talent.Promoting interdisciplinary excellence and transdisciplinary research.Enhancing the Faculty's academic reputation through external partnerships and collaborations.Driving the Faculty's transformation agenda to promote diversity.Collaborating with the University's leadership to drive the overall institutional agenda.Responsible for sustainable financial management of the Faculty and resource management.Providing guidance and overseeing strategic enrolment management.Providing leadership regarding all student and staff matters including their wellness.Requirements: Strong academic credentials with national/international recognition and eligibility for appointment as professor.Proven track record of strategic leadership and successfully leading teams.Comprehensive understanding of the higher education sector and research funding landscape.Senior management experience at faculty and institutional levels.Demonstrated experience in promoting excellence in academic quality and research significance.Sound communication and interpersonal skills.A track record of promoting diversity and transformation.Evidence of relationship building and management of national and international networks.Evidence of values-based leadership aligned to Stellenbosch University's core values.Recommendations: At least five years' experience at senior management level.Experience in promoting interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research.Experience of engagement with professional bodies and/or the private/public sector.Term of appointment: Five years with the possibility of reappointment for another term.
