Job description This position responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of data centre infrastructure, ensuring high availability, reliability, and security of critical systems and services housed within the data centre environment.
The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing best practices to support the organization's data centre operations.
Duties and Responsibilities. Installing equipment.
(Racking and Stacking)Installation of Structured/ non-structured cabling.Operate and maintain critical and non-critical data centre infrastructure, equipment, and systems.Design, plan, and implement data centre infrastructure including servers, storage systems, back up of systems, SAN Fabric Switches and Virtual Servers.Ensure scalability, redundancy, and fault tolerance in the data centre architecture to support business growth and continuity.System Maintenance and MonitoringEnsure All recovery systems are replicated at DR, including Infrastructure, DB replication and Software.Manage Infrastructure DR Plan, Manage DR Datacentre availability and stability.Perform regular maintenance tasks such as hardware upgrades, firmware updates, and system patches to keep the data centre infrastructure up-to-date and secure.Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability using monitoring tools and implement proactive measures to address potential issues.Incident Response and TroubleshootingRespond to data centre incidents, diagnose root causes, and implement solutions to restore service operations within defined SLAs.Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and network issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams and vendors.Documentation and Knowledge Sharing.Maintain accurate documentation of data centre configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.Education, Experience And Skills Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferable.Relevant certifications such as VMware VCP, CompTIA Server+, Storage Skills or equivalent certifications are desirable.Strong IT/Datacentre skills/experience/background.Strong understanding of networking protocols, routing, and switching conceptsExcellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a systematic approach to issue resolution.Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors.Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks based on business needs.Minimum work Experience, based on the above job spec 4 to 5 Years.The role of a Data Centre Engineer requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and collaboration skills to ensure the efficient and secure operation of data centre infrastructure supporting the organization's mission-critical services and applications.
