This role aims to align data modelling and metadata management activities with both business and architectural objectives, maximizing and unlocking the value of data at both the enterprise and system/application levels.Job ResponsibilitiesData Modelling and Metadata Design:Design data models that meet the business requirements, aligning with the agreed architecture framework.Manage metadata by ensuring all data-related information is documented, catalogued, and stored for easy access.Apply best practices to create data modelling deliverables, including logical and physical data models.Utilize Nedbank-approved tooling to create and manage data models and metadata.Adopt and promote the Enterprise Data Model, based on IFW standards, to leverage best practices and enhance efficiency.Requirements Translation and Data Profiling:Translate business requirements into data requirements, ensuring they align with metadata management needs.Profile source data to understand quality issues, relationships, patterns, and data rules.Identify definitive data sources, analyse source data, and document metadata accordingly.Data Flow and Implementation:Develop data flow diagrams outlining data movement across systems and interfaces.Enable the physical implementation of data models by generating the first-cut physical data model from the logical model.Create Source to Target Mapping Specifications, incorporating metadata transformation rules.Standardization and Best Practices:Ensure all data modelling and metadata deliverables are aligned with development methodologies, modelling principles, and standards.Contribute to the continuous improvement of data modelling and metadata management standards by participating in annual and ad hoc reviews.Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:Advise stakeholders on the application of data modelling and metadata management practices.Identify opportunities to reuse and enhance existing models, minimizing non-value-adding activities.Collaborate with data stewards and other stakeholders to maintain metadata quality and consistency.Professional Development:Maintain up-to-date knowledge in data modelling and metadata management by attending seminars, courses, and conferences.Support the achievement of business strategy, objectives, and values by contributing to Nedbank's Data Culture initiatives.People SpecificationEssential Qualifications - NQF LevelMatric / Grade 12 / National Senior CertificateAdvanced Diplomas/National 1st DegreesPreferred QualificationBachelor of Commerce , Bachelor of Science: Information Systems / Computer ScienceEssential CertificationsTOGAFPreferred CertificationsRelevant data modelling and metadata management certificationsMinimum Experience LevelMinimum of 5-8 years of experience in data modelling, metadata management, or data architecture roles.Technical KnowledgeData Modelling (Logical and Physical)Data and Business Requirements GatheringData Architecture and Metadata ManagementData Warehousing, Integration, and Master Data ManagementAgile and SDLC methodologiesData Quality, Data Governance, and Reference Data ManagementUse of Data Modelling Tools and Industry Reference Models
