Credit Controller Job DescriptionThe primary function of the Credit Controller is to apply the principles of Credit Control as stated within the company's credit control policy and to minimize bad debt exposure as well as to increase productivity, reduce losses, and achieve operating profit objectives.Duties & ResponsibilitiesGenerating purchase orders, receiving and invoicing of invoices.Payment of invoices and the Fixed Asset Register and the update and maintenance thereof.Processing customer refunds and ensuring necessary clearing accounts are balanced.Generating Purchase Orders from a quote in the creditor's module, ensuring proper setup in the SOP module if it is a stock item.Capturing the delivery note to the correct general ledger account (expense account) and ensuring accurate capture to the relevant clearing account for stock and fixed assets.Ensuring fixed assets are added in the FA module and all other invoices are receipted in the creditors module in terms of awaiting payment.Preparing documents in an Excel Spreadsheet and updating in the creditor's module.Ensuring payments are ready to be loaded on the bank.Attaching and filing the respective proof of payment in the month file for future reference after payments have been actioned.Capturing all invoices to update costs in the general ledger timeously.Ensuring all invoices are signed by relevant Line Managers and preparing invoices for payment in a timely manner.Adhering to month-end processes and deadlines, including GL reconciliations and balancing clearing accounts to sub-modules.Ensuring Purchase Orders are within budgeted amounts and authorized by the Line Manager.Responsible for document validation and preparation accuracy and timeliness, ensuring all payments are loaded in the creditor's module and proof of payment is filed correctly.Strong analytical, investigative, accounting, numeracy, and literacy skills.Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.SafetyAdhering to all safety practices (OHSACT and associated legal requirements) and addressing infringements timeously by reporting to the Safety officer.Responsible for ensuring a clean, tidy, and safe work environment in line with legislative requirements.Desired Experience & QualificationDiploma in Credit Control Management.Computer Literate (MS Word and MS Excel Advanced).Minimum 3 years of credit control experience working with consumer and/or corporate clients. Knowledge of the National Credit Act.Working knowledge of Cogsdale package is an advantage.
