Reporting to the Group Tax ControllerThe successful candidate will need to ensure that Group VAT compliance is adhered to and provide support with Tax compliance functions within the tax department.Duties & ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include:Preparing VAT ReturnsReviewing and reconciling VAT accountsAssisting with VAT audits and reviewsAssisting with SARS and general tax queriesIdentifying VAT processing errors and resolving queries accurately and timeouslyPreparing VAT reasonability calculations and reconciling annual VAT balancesProviding VAT training and communicating changes in legislation to the clerks processing invoices and expensesResolving VAT queries for Group and providing VAT advice where applicableProviding support with the general tax compliance functions within the tax departmentPreparing and submitting the monthly EMP201 submissions on SARS e-filingAssisting with completing corporate tax returns and tax calculationsCompleting DWT (DTR1 & DTR2) dividend tax returns and Withholding tax returns for the GroupIdentifying tax risks and tax efficiencies within the GroupAssisting with year-end tax calculationsMaintaining Tax Asset registers for Group companies to ensure alignment with SARS tax ratesPreparing monthly statutory reports for Statistics SA etc.Assisting with the financial year-end audit requirements within the tax departmentDesired Experience & QualificationRequirements:A relevant tertiary qualification in Financial Accounting or Diploma in Taxation/Accounting or studying towards an Accounting or Tax degree/diplomaA diploma in VAT or equivalent certification will be advantageous, showcasing specialized knowledge in VAT compliance and procedures3+ years experience in VAT or similar financial role, demonstrating a strong understanding of VAT principles and regulationsAccounting software package experience (Sage 300 Accpac advantageous)Must have experience on SARS e-filingExperience in processing accounting records and compiling financial informationSound knowledge and experience in the application of the Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act and dealings with SARSStrong numerical and analytical skills
