Contracts ManagerThe Contracts Manager oversees projects from startup to handover, ensuring that work is completed on time and within its budget. As a contracts manager, you will be working on a wide variety of projects.Duties & ResponsibilitiesLogistics and resource managementPlan all resources required for the project (including labour, material and plant & equipment)Site environmental mattersEnsure contracts are suitably resourced with regard to labour, material and equipmentImplementation, co-ordination and management of the IMS systemsCo-ordinate the technical aspects of the contract(s) under your managementEnsure the contractual/commercial management of the contractsResponsible to drive compliance with contracts program and planReport on project deliverables to managementUnderstand, interpret and provide guidance on technical specifications and requirementsResponsible for HR/IR matters on the contracts including appointments, disciplinary and employee/union engagementsAssume responsibility for equipment, vehicles and other resources assigned to the contractsPrepare monthly, weekly and daily project plans, setting targets for all teams including labours and sub-contractorsPrepare monthly payment certificates and follow up on outstanding claimsPlan and execute all work within the set project budgetMonitor the progress of the project by regularly reviewing time schedules, budgets, resources, and conducting a risk analysisConduct daily site visits to inspect quality of workmanship, verify material and ensure that staff are following health and safety guidelinesManage and oversee all teams on the site including sub-contractorsOversee the logistical requirements of the projectAssist the professional team in resolving any contractual and technical matters which may impact on the progress of the projectVerify and report on any variation orders/ site instructions which may impact on the planned programme or cause design changesAttend to all site meetings with clients, management, staff, subcontractors or third parties as directedEnsure the delivery of high-quality work within contract timescalePrepare weekly and monthly progress and technical reports as per requirements agreed with the professional teamMaintain contact and provide feedback to the Clients on matters relating to the execution of the contractsUndertake site walk-downs to assess work procedures, site conditions, safety compliance, environmental compliance, technical guidance and feedbackEnsure records are properly kept, maintained and distributedOrganise, attend and conduct internal and external meetings when necessary to meet the project/contract's objectivesManage costs and expenditure in line with budgets and allowableEnsure invoicing is submitted timeously and that payments by the client are made timeouslyEnsure that the working capital for the execution of the projects/contracts is kept as low as possibleIdentify and address areas of continual improvement and communicate these to management as well as persons under your controlMonitor compliance with quality assurance and control requirementsLiaise with various forums with regard to social responsibility programs and initiativesDelegation of duties to suitably qualified personnelEnsure that performance monitoring of personnel engaged on the projects/contracts is undertakenUndertake assessments of training requirements for personnelSet targets and deliverables for direct reportsReview contract performanceIt is anticipated that this position will have direct reports, manage approximately 200 employees (including Contract Managers, Site Managers, Safety Managers/Officers, HR/IR Personnel, Quantity Surveyors, Planners and Administrative staff)Promote the interests of the company at all timesAssist in the marketing of the company's services and offeringsDesired Experience & QualificationAbove average working knowledge of the ISO standards, OSH Act and the Labour Relations ActSound knowledge of quality, environmental, risk, occupational health and safety principlesSACPCMP membership/registrationA good level of understanding of contracts including but not limited to NEC, FIDIC and GCCGood verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Proficiency in one or more African language would be advantageousMinimum of NQF 7 qualification is required. NACE 1 or more would be advantageousStrong administrative, organization and problem-solving skills are requiredThe appointee must be deadline driven and results orientatedAbove average computer skills are required particularly with regard to Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Power point and a knowledge of Project (or other planning software)Have a valid driver's licenseAt least 5 years successful experience as a Contracts Manager on large infrastructure projects and or maintenance contractsPackage & Remuneration
