We don't stand still – there are always opportunities to do more and do better.What's on offer?We currently have a full-time vacancy for a construction material tester to join the team at Fulton Hogan based at Launceston Asphalt plant.
This position will suit either entry level or experienced candidates looking to take the next step in their career.The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing of asphalt to Australian standard methods in our NATA accredited facility, your responsibilities will include:Sampling and testing of asphalt, aggregates, binders and asphalt field compaction testing.The hands-on, day-to-day management of sampling and testing in accordance with specified requirements.The handling and management of chemicals in line with relevant standardsManagement of reporting, record keeping and calibrations including reporting non-conforming product.Conduct procedures safely and maintain good housekeeping of the facility and surrounds.Providing technical support to production departments.Maintain the facility in accordance with NATA requirements.Willingness to work nightshifts and weekends as and when required.Some travel will be required, based on the needs of the business.Supporting the production team by performing other duties such as mobile and fixed plant operations, site administration, field activities, etc from time to time during quieter / off peak periods when testing work is limited.To be successful in this position you will require the following: Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and achieve strict deadlines.Professional communication, written and interpersonal skills.Honest, confident and reliable.Commitment to workplace safety, quality, punctuality, reliability, respect for others and to work as part of an efficient team.Current and valid Driver's Licence.Previous experience in heavy industries or an interest in this field of workIdeally you will have an understanding of the asphalt industry.Having a demonstrated knowledge of Australian standards would be viewed favourably but is not essential as full training will be provided.The pre-employment process will include a medical check, including drug and alcohol screening.Keen to progress your career?
