Community Engagement and Work Integrated Learning Coordinator (3-year contract portfolio) (For the Faculty of Engineering & The Built Environment staff only) - (7535)Job Purpose: This post is for an existing faculty staff member who will remain as an academic with half an academic load and take on this additional CE & WIL portfolio at the faculty level.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience: A relevant Doctoral qualification related to the programmes within the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment.At least 4 years academic experience in Engineering and the Built Environment and/or industrial experience.A proven record in community and industry engagement.Thorough knowledge of all Work-Integrated Learning models and systems.Knowledge of current legislation in education, labour and skills development.Knowledge of SAQA, HEQF, NQF and Professional body (ECSA; PLATO; SACPCMP; SACQSP; SAMSA) requirements relating to Work Integrated Learning.Recommendations: Candidate must be registered or registerable with the Professional body (if not registered must apply for registration within 12 months of the appointment).Evidence to manage staff within an academic and innovative environment.Evidence of engagement with funding agencies.Proven evidence of ability to write comprehensive and highly professional proposals in English.A valid driver's license (due to nature of position that require industry and student visits).Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities: Industry liaison with external stakeholders and partners.Coordinate and attend departmental, faculty, institutional and advisory board meetings relating to community engagements and Work Integrated Learning.Serve as a link between the faculty and the institution's Centre for Community Engagement and Work Integrated Learning.Staff development and training relating to Community Engagement and Work Integrated Learning.Curriculation, coordination and implementation of WIL and SL projects.Management of Faculty WIL activities and SL.Language proficiency in English.Initiative and proactive thinking.Good communication and presentation skills.Report writing skills.Good organisational and planning skills.Experience in training and/or curriculum development.Leadership and management skills.Computer literacy in MS Office suite and other language-related software packages.Strong learner focus.Initiative and decision-making skills.Good interpersonal and listening skills.Coaching and mentoring skills.Aptitude for continuous learning.General Information: NB: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SYSTEM DOES NOT ALLOW APPLICANTS TO UPLOAD CVs.
