Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, you will fulfil all the necessary requirements with regards to the operational activities in the Commissioning Department. Maintain the functional defects on the boat that aligns with the strategy for safety, quality, on-time delivery, and customer-focused service. Be involved in continuous improvement initiatives and related projects to optimize efficiencies in the Commissioning Department.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS: Provide management with daily reports as to the planning and control of daily activities on the boats. Implement and enforce quality standards, control, and track progress on commissioning defects. Maintain stable workstation schedules and production-delivery. Organize service departments' manning to improve efficiency of M/Beth, RCYC, and Mendez bases. Plan, organize, and control cleaning crews, plumbers, and mechanics for on-time delivery with GL's. Structure and review commissioning on launch boats and investigate third audit defect lists and manage resources to meet handover targets. Ensure that after handover all documents are signed before handing the commissioning file to the manager and that all commissioning items and customer HO & SO are signed off. Ensure that all pre-HO inspections are completed and declared ready before the customer starts with the handover. Maintain and adhere to manufacturing and quality standards. Ensure daily reporting on the status of the line activity and activity adherence. Ensure that workstations comply with health and safety standards. Continuously liaise with internal stakeholders in R&C for incoming products at both receiving and dispatch. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders concerning quality and delivery issues. Monitor output and controls against the Waste Management Plan. Assist in maintenance as per department Maintenance Plan. Identify, present, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with marine safety during launches, HO's, and all other functions within the Harbour environment through means of a legal skipper license. Ensure all boats adhere to all safety regulations as per SAMSA regulations. Stand in for GL's when required. Be available early mornings and late evenings to launch boats, do sea trails, and move boats as required. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum qualification: NQF Level 4 qualification (with Math's/Business/Engineering). Approved SAMSA/SAS day Skippers license with >9m boat length. Ideal qualification: NQF Level 6 qualification in Production Management/business management/engineering or related field. Experience: Minimum 2 years practical sailing experience. COMPETENCIES: Strong ability to manage teams through operational changes in process, environment, and resources. Good leadership, planning, organizing, communication, and control skills. Excellent working knowledge in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Good customer relations abilities. Be flexible, adaptable, able, and willing to modify activities and direction with an ever-changing business environment. Strong interpersonal skills and work ethic. Possess a professional attitude and promote the same in others. Project Planning and continuous improvement experience. Sound understanding of Production and/or business Management principles. Some understanding of Engineering principles would be advantageous. Two-way radio and other electronic skills would be an advantage. Must be able to work under severe pressure. Job Type: Permanent
