Design and manage drawings of projects mainly in infrastructural services water supply and wastewater steel pipelines, water treatment plants, reservoirs and ensuring that they meet project objectives. Report and work closely with the Snr Engineer, HOD Civil and the project team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, manage and guide Engineers, technicians, draughts persons and delegate work effectively in the Civil Engineering Department.
Ensure that all employees in the team are supplied with the relevant tools required to perform jobs.
Formulate systems for smooth running of the Civil Engineering section to enable synergy and coherence.
Design and reporting in the Civil Engineering section to meet project objectives.
Preparation of proposals, tender and contract documents for the infrastructure services nationally and internationally.
Construction monitoring and implementation of site construction work as and when required on at least the following aspects:
Ensuring compliance with design/specifications and standards.
Ensuring compliance with programme and all knowledge areas.
Attending site meetings.
Preparing reports.
Perform any ad-hoc office duties as assigned by the HoD: Civil Engineering.
Guide and train in design and other necessary skills to engineers and technicians to ensure continuous professional development.
Keep abreast with technology development and research in the field of water and wastewater engineering.
Coordinate and supervise the production of technical drawings design and reporting inputs by supporting staff.
Client liaison including meetings and reporting.
Compliance with the company's Quality Management System ISO9001 requirements.
Assisting with the preparation of requests for proposals expressions of interest panel applications and tenders.
Management of projects and monitoring of performance and profitability.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
BEng (Civil), BTech (Civil) degree or equivalent.
Must be professionally registered or registrable with ECSA as PrEng/PrTech, and SAICE OR any recognised professional body.
Experience of managing a team of junior employees i.e technicians and trainees.
Minimum 8 years in engineering design, management and construction.
Extensive experience in design and construction of steel water pipeline, pump stations, reservoirs, abstraction works and water treatment plants.
Legal knowledge of Employee Equity Act, Labour and Employment laws, OHS Act, Design compliance standards.
Knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, various civil and water design software.
Drivers Licence is essential.
Quality Management: Ensure that there is ISO compliance.
Regular inter-provincial and international site visits and meetings.
